LABI SOUTHPAC Endorses Beryl Amedee for House District 51
Baton Rouge, La. – SOUTHPAC, a political action committee of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), today announced the endorsement of Beryl Amedee (R-Gray) for House District 51.
“Since its formation more than 25 years ago, SOUTHPAC has helped to elect state and local candidates who support job growth policies and economic development in Louisiana, “ Steve Stumpf, chair of SOUTHPAC, said. “Beryl Amedee has proven herself as a leader during her time of public service on the Terrebonne Parish Council.”
As a council member for District 4 of Terrebonne Parish, Amedee represents the Schriever, Gray, Coteau and Bayou Blue areas of parish. In her time on the council, she served as the 2013 chair, chair of the council’s Subdivision Regulations Review Committee, and as a member of the CSBG Committee and of the Downtown Attractions/Beautification Committee. Before being elected to the council, Amedee served four years as a member of the Houma-Terrebonne Regional Planning and Zoning Commission.
“I believe that Louisiana cannot spend its way out of its economic woes. Our state needs a conservative fiscal policy that cuts waste and encourages thrift in government, while rewarding risk and entrepreneurism,” Amedee said “We need a smarter tax system for the private sector so that we can emerge from this recession with an unlimited growth mentality. I will work to reform the tax code while cutting duplicative government programs, and most certainly, I will not support the expansion of more government.”

Amedee will face incumbent Joe Harrison on Oct. 24.
